Contest Corner: Field Your Dreams

Enter to win a Fantasy Baseball Experience at Comerica Park

Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers, is dark until spring. But you could field a prize that will help you through the long winter days ahead with dreams of taking to the turf in the 2011 season.

The Tigers are promoting the availability of Holiday Gift Certificates by offering a chance to win a choice of:
- Fantasy Batting Practice for Two
- Throwing a Ceremonial First Pitch
- Kids Club Gift Certificate, which allows a young fan to be first to run the bases after a Sunday game

Just sign on at tigers.com and make your Holiday Gift Sweepstakes choice by December 17. The contest is open to residents of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana who are 18 years and older.

You could be on the field next season

You can’t win if you don’t enter!

And if you don’t win you can buy these or other Fantasy Experiences as gifts for you or another Tigers fan.

Imagine her surprise when she opens the Member of the Grounds Crew for a Day package. “Oh, honey. I’ve always wanted to drag the infield dirt in the 3rd inning, and change the bases in the 5th!”

  1. Actually, Kath, I have long wanted to be on the Grounds Crew @ Comerica…..I keep telling my kids that’s what I want to do when I retire from teaching! Maybe I’ll win! :)

    • Remember many years ago the dancing groundskeeper at Tiger Stadium? He made it look like fun. That job is not one of the sweepstake prizes…your kids will have to purchase it for your retirement gift :-)

  2. I DO remember that guy – never say him for real, but my dad did! I like your idea… they have 3 years to save up for it. Registered for the batting practice one anyways :)

    • Just had to track down Dancing Herbie, the Tiger Stadium groundsman; see him in this 1984 Bless You Boys video at about 1:04 and 1:47.

You also get Sparky, Gibby, The Wave, Tom Selleck, Boy George, and all those groovy 80s clothes and hairstyles:

  3. Thanx – how cool is that? Lost Ernie and Sparky in the same year :(

    • AND the last bit of Tiger Stadium.
