With Liberty and Justice for All exhibit, The Henry Ford museum, Dearborn

50 years ago today, on June 23, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led Detroit’s Walk to Freedom with an estimated 125,000 participants making it, at that point, “the largest civil rights demonstration in the nation’s history,” according to the Detroit Free Press. After the walk he delivered an address that included his soon-to-be-famous “I have a dream” quote. See Michigan.gov
