Frozen Four: What’s UP With That?

UP Frozen Four: Camp chairs jump the gun on the season, on the beach at Blue Skies

While some of Paige’s friends headed to exotic and/or warm places for Easter break, we pointed the Splattered Van north to the Upper Peninsula and spent time at Blue Skies. Although it wasn’t exactly beach weather the snow was gone and we were okay with the expected highs of around 50 degrees. Except that we never saw anything above 38 F.

Still, I optimistically propped up our canvas camp chairs thinking we might need them for a bonfire on the beach, or a place to sit for a cup of coffee and some Lake Michigan wave watching.

Imagine our surprise on Thursday morning when we awoke to about 3 or 4 inches of fresh white stuff on the ground. And the trees. And the chairs. It was pretty and not completely unexpected. Afterall, it’s only April and there’s always at least one more snowfall before spring really arrives.

Paige even made a little snowman.

Snowman is happy with the spring surprise

So, on the same day that the NCAA Frozen Four men’s hockey championship took to the ice at Detroit’s Ford Field, we had our own Frozen Four (camp chairs) in da UP, eh?

  1. Oh yes that was a surprise little snowstorm! Sorry you had to experience it…today it’s in the 50’s and sunny and warm. I love the little snowman above. Very cute. He’s gone now… 🙂
