September, October, and November is/are National Apple Month, a time to celebrate the versatile fruit and to wonder, why don’t they just change the name to National Apple Months, or National Apple Quarter?

Apples are Michigan’s largest fruit crop, and most are grown on family farms along the western side of the Mitten not far from the Lake Michigan shore. There are orchards in the southeastern part of the state, as well. The Upper Peninsula isn’t conducive to large scale apple operations.

Every kid learns that they’re supposed to eat an apple a day, but whether or not you like apples you can enjoy the fruits of the sweepstakes sponsored by the Michigan Apple Committee and the Boyne Resorts of northern Michigan.

If you are a legal resident of Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin or Kentucky and are at least 21 years old you are eligible to win a 2-night Boyne Vacation Package for four at Boyne Highlands or Boyne Mountain including lodging and a choice of ski lift tickets, a round of golf, or the Zipline Adventure.
