Homemade: Michigan Ice Cube Trays—An Ice Gift

Michigan shaped ice trays for your drinks or as a gift

Here’s a nifty gift idea for those who think the Great Lakes State is cool: MI-Ice Cube Trays that freeze water in the shape of Michigan—both the Upper and Lower Peninsulas.

The heavy duty plastic trays are made in Michigan, and the packaging and website prominently list the businesses and suppliers involved.

I added a touch of blue food coloring to half the batch of 16 cubes

Each tray makes eight ice cubes (ice mittens?) and they are are sold two trays to the package for $8.49 (plus shipping and handling)  online.

I bought my set at Circare, the go-to source in St. Clair Shores for handmade and unusual art, jewelry, house and garden items and more. The Circare price is $12 for two trays.

They’re also available at the online Pure Michigan store for $11.95 (plus shipping).

Find more retail outlets and other info on what has to be the only Facebook page for ice cube trays.

Note: Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s direction and do not twist the trays to release the ice or you may crack the tray and break the UP apart from the Lower Peninsula.

  1. Very cool! (pun intended!)

    • These are the cutest ice cubes…while they last 😉
