Sunday Snapshot: It’s About Time

Like clockwork, Gog and Magog ring the bells in Greenfield Village

The mechanical figures (“clock-jacks”) Gog and Magog clang the bells on the quarter hour above the entrance to the Sir John Bennett shop in Greenfield Village.

The jewelry and clock shop originally stood five stories tall and was located in London, England. When it was scheduled to be demolished Henry Ford had it moved to his outdoor museum in Dearborn, Michigan in 1931, where the structure was reconstructed at just two stories.

For more about the clock and its restoration check out The Henry Ford Pic of the Month.
