Rally ‘Round These Michigan Towns

Paige and Tucker the Wonder Dog at Piers Gorge in the Upper Peninsula near Norway, a Rand McNally candidate for prettiest small town

Rand McNally is looking for the Best Small Towns in America for its 2012 Best of the Road competition, and 10 Michigan towns are in the running in five categories:

Friendliest: Holland, Saugatuck

Most Beautiful: Charlevoix, Grand Haven, Holland, Norway, Rockford

Most Fun: Houghton Lake, Indian River

Most Patriotic: Onaway

Best for Food: East Grand Rapids

Winners in the second annual contest will be determined by online voting; the top towns will become Road Rally stops and featured among the “Best of the Road” destinations.

You can participate by voting for your favorite towns, spreading the word to get others to vote, sharing your stories and photos of these places, and following along via social media.

Voting ends May 15.

Road Rally

You can enter to be selected as one of five Road Rally teams to travel cross-country on an all-expenses paid road trip this summer to the Best of the Road winners. Details on that process will be posted next week at
