More Awards for Pure Michigan

Natural wonders like Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore on Lake Michigan are the stuff of award-winning Pure Michigan ads

Someone at the state’s Travel Michigan office had to rearrange the trophy shelf to make room for five more Mercury Awards from the U.S. Travel Association and the National Council of State Tourism Directors.

Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett and Travel Michigan Vice President George Zimmermann and the public relations Mercury Award for last year’s “Mitten War”

The Pure Michigan campaign was just recognized for best state tourism television advertising, best state radio advertising, best social media presence, best partnership advertising program and best public relations effort.

The PR prize is shared with the State of Wisconsin for the “Who’s the Real Mitten State?” uproar late in 2011.

Since it debuted in 2006 the Pure Michigan campaign has earned 15 Mercury Awards in addition to other kudos. The radio and TV ads feature the voice of Michigan actor/comedian Tim Allen; the program is the work of the folks at the Birmingham, Michigan office of McCann Erickson.

Check out the Sandy Beaches of the Great Lakes television ad at YouTube.

There’s still time this season to hit the beaches!
