Pure Michigan’s Flaky Flicks

Welcome to Michigan’s winter wonderland

The Pure Michigan advertising campaign is banking on Mother Nature delivering big time on the white stuff in the coming months. Travel Michigan’s seasonal advertising budget of $2.24 million is the largest ever dedicated to promoting the winter wonderland.

Snow on a Lake Michigan beach

In addition to touting the cold weather joys of the Great Lakes State via radio, TV and outdoor boards, the state’s tourism office has introduced a new series of 13 short videos depicting A Pure Michigan Winter.

The first four of the flaky flicks give a quick overview of outdoor activities from snowboarding and skiing to ice climbing and dog sledding, plus ziplining, indoor water parks and my favorite, snowshoeing.

Wonder if there will be one about my other preferred cold weather activity—curling up by a crackling fire and watching old movies.

Find info on upcoming events and getaway packages and view the winter ads at michigan.org.

And if you need warm weather gear like an official Stormy Kromer hat emblazoned with the Pure Michigan logo, check out the official logo merchandise at the Pure Michigan online store.

  1. Ahhh yes. I prefer that ALT Winter option too – with an addition of a nice bottle of Port. Brrrrrrr. Throw another log on the fire!
