On the heels of Sunday’s 85th Academy Awards Detroit’s WXYZ-TV kicked-off a contest to win tickets to an advance screening of the new Disney movie Oz The Great and Powerful. The prequel to the 1939 movie The Wizard of Oz was made in Michigan at Raleigh Studios* in Pontiac by filmmaker Sam Raimi, who hails from Michigan.
Oz stars James Franco as Oscar, a circus magician who leaves Kansas for the Emerald City, where the residents have been expecting the arrival of a powerful wizard. Among other things Oscar must deal with three witches played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams. The movie hits regular, 3-D and IMAX screens on March 8.
The station will give away 50 pairs of tickets to the Monday, March 4 screening at the Emagine Theater in Novi. You have to “Like” WXYZ-TV on Facebook, you must be at least 18, live in the WXYZ viewing region and sign a W-9 form. (Huh? The IRS has to know you’ve received tickets that “have no retail value?”)
You can’t win if you don’t enter!
