More folks will have a chance to see the splendor of summertime in the Great Lakes State as Pure Michigan TV ads air nationally on cable stations starting now and running through June.
Travel Michigan, the state’s tourism office, is spending $13 million on the campaign to convince travelers they need to come and experience Pure Michigan for themselves. Those are the biggest bucks the state has poured into its tourism promotion program, but not all of that money is coming from Lansing. Five partners—Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, The Henry Ford, Mackinac Island and Traverse City—kicked in a combined $3 million to make it happen, and beginning in April will be featured in the ad series.
The Pure Michigan message will be played over 5,000 times on more than two dozen cable stations. The award-winning campaign, with radio and TV ads narrated by Tim Allen, was launched in 2006.
